    Overview: Nature of Science: Ocean Floor/SONAR

    Estimated Time: 30 minutes

    Explanation: We will use Explorelearning's Ocean Floor Mapping Gizmo to see how scientist use SONAR to map the ocean floor and make ocean floor graphs/charts (bathymetric profiles).

    Explanation: We will use resources from NOAA Ocean Today to explore how scientists study life, geology, and shipwrecks on the deep ocean floor.  The 2 specific video modules we will focus on are Deep Sea Dives and Shipwrecks.

    Overview: Chapter 14 The Ocean Floor: Life in the Deep Ocean/Bioluminescence

    Estimated Time: 30 minutes

    Explanation: Based on student questions from yesterday's 3-2-1 assignment, I decided to focus on life in the deep ocean as well as the technology used to investigate the deep ocean environment.  Animals that live in the deep ocean spend most of their life in complete darkness.  An adaptation that helps animals survive in the deep ocean is bioluminescence.
