Dear Families,
This year, I will be using a web-based program called Class Dojo to help reinforce student behavior. In Class Dojo, students can earn points for positive behaviors such as being on task, following directions, helping others, etc. Students can also lose points for negative behaviors such as being off task, not following directions, etc. At the end of each week, students will be able to "cash out" their points for various rewards at school!
I will award and deduct points in a variety of ways:
- Whole Class or Small Group Work: points can be given to or taken from an entire group or class at once for a behavior or participation
- Individual: points can be given to or taken from an individual student for their personal behavior or participation
- Randomized Checks: a random student can be selected by the computer, then the teacher will award points or deduct points based on their behavior at the current moment
- Non-Homeroom Teacher reports: When another adult in the building reports a student for negative/positive behavior, the homeroom teachers will add that to the student’s point tally
I look forward to using this motivational behavior management program in our 3rd grade classroom!
Sincerely,
Miss Toub
*Please note: I will not have parent's connecting this year as we are going to use this tool just in the classroom. I will contact parents/guardians for specific behaviors as needed.
