    Helpful Information

    Important Beginning Dates to Remember:

First Day of School: Monday, August 29th, 2022

Back to School Night: Wednesday, September 7th, 2022 @ 6:30 PM

Attendance: Your child’s attendance is critical in third grade.  Please be sure that your child arrives on time every day, except in cases of illness or emergency. Your child’s schoolwork will be saved for him/her to complete when they return to school. Please remember to send a note explaining the reason for the absence when your child returns to school. (An e-mail works best!)

Dismissal Changes: If you know in advance, please e-mail me AND call or email the front office. If you do not have an e-mail address, you may send in a written note with your child.  For any last minute dismissal changes, please phone the school office, as I cannot retrieve e-mails during instructional time or if there is a substitute.

Homework Folder: Everyday your child will bring home his/her Homework Folder.  Please check this each day. It may contain important announcements, homework assignments, tests/quizzes to be signed or completed work.  It is very important that your child brings this back to school each day.  This will help to create a routine and continue the communication between home and school. The folder will be labeled with a Keep at Home section and Return to Miss Toub section. Any school flyers and returned work will be placed in the Keep at Home section and can be kept at home. Homework and items that need to be completed and returned to school will be found on the Return to Miss Toub section. This folder is also where you can place important notes for me.

Laptops: Third Grade Students will receive a district laptop, charger and case for the 2022-2023 school year. Laptops and chargers should come to school DAILY and travel in the case. Students are expected to charge their laptop each night at home! I will teach students all that they need to know about using their laptop for classroom instruction as well as expectations for taking care of their device! Please refer to the “1 to 1 Device Information 22-23” page on my classroom website for more information.

Lunch: Your child has the option of packing lunch or buying lunch. If he/she is buying lunch, please send lunch money in a sealed, labeled envelope so it will not be lost.  Another option is to set up a lunch account through the CB website - This way your child won’t need to carry any money.  I highly recommend this option! Snack: We will take a snack break each day. Please remember to send a small, healthy snack with your child daily. Please do not send any peanut butter snacks due to allergies. Your child may bring a water bottle (no juice, please) to keep throughout the day. We also have a classroom water fountain.

Birthday Celebrations: Keeping in mind the district’s commitment to healthy eating and wellness, as well as our commitment to being mindful of food allergies, our class will not be allowing any food treats for birthdays. If a student wishes to share a treat with the class, they are encouraged to bring in pencils, bookmarks, erasers etc. for ALL students in the class. We also ask that party invitations are not handed out at school unless your child is inviting the entire class.

Supplies: Please refer to the “Supply List 22-23” on my classroom website so that your child is prepared for our first day of school! Please note that these are suggested supplies. If you are unable to get them or getting them creates a financial hardship, please let me know, and I will be happy to help.

Volunteers: I will be discussing volunteers needed this school year on Back To School Night. Please keep in mind that in order to volunteer in the classroom throughout the year you will need to have required paper work/background checks. For more information visit this website, https://www.cbsd.org/volunteers.

Communication: I will be communicating dates, important information, and events going on in our classroom in a variety of ways this school year. This includes through email, homework folder, paper notes, Twitter, and Seesaw. For more information on how I will be utilizing Twitter this year to share pictures and videos of our classroom, please visit "Our Classroom Twitter" page on my classroom website to find out how you can get involved! Your child will learn and grow so much this year in Third Grade, and our communication will be key to their success!
