Mrs. Finelli
A happy hello my stupendous sixth graders and proud sixth grade parents! Welcome to our class website! I am so excited for you to be a part of our class community. I cannot wait to learn more about you during the first couple weeks of school! Here is just a little bit about me! I am a Central Bucks School District graduate, starting at Gayman Elementary, continuing on to Holicong, and eventually graduating from Central Bucks East in 2000. Millersville University was my college of choice, where I majored in Elementary Education and graduated in 2004. I began my career 18 years ago as a building substitute here at Warwick. That year I taught every grade, was in every classroom, and even taught a gym class or two in my fancy new teacher shoes! It was quite a learning experience and offered me the opportunity to learn and grow from some of the best that Central Bucks has to offer.
I began my career teaching in fourth grade but also ventured down to younger grades, first and second, eventually back up to fourth, and have now graduated to sixth grade. I am excited for the opportunity to teach sixth grade because of the independence that it offers you all as students and people. During my tenure at Warwick I also completed my Masters degree from Gwynedd Mercy College with a focus on reading, along with a reading specialist certificate. I am also a member of the National Writing Project and PAWLP, The Pennsylvania Writing and Literature Project, where I learned how to develop myself as a writer and reader along with a teacher in both areas. I completed more course work at Wilkes University while being home on sabbatical, which offered me a chance to enhance my 21st century teaching and technology skills. As you can see, I LOVE to learn!
On a personal note, this past July, Mr. Finelli and I celebrated our tenth wedding anniversary. He loves to work with technology, which allows me to tinker with it too! We have a very loving, kind, and opinionated son, Jackson, who turned seven this past March. He is known to everyone in our family as JACK, and trust me, you will be hearing about him a lot! He enters into second grade at Bridge Valley this upcoming school year, which will be a whole new adventure! He is excited for a new year with some of his favorite people! Our little spit-fire Claire turned two this past May and is the perfect final piece of our Finelli family! We have had a fun summer exploring old things that have become new again through their eyes! My family means everything to me. I come from a large family of four girls which has grown with husbands along with nieces and a nephew. My parents are the BEST and have pushed me to work hard and to never settle for anything less than MY best.
I feel honored and privileged to be your teacher. We are going to learn and grow together each and every day. Get ready for a great year in sixth grade!
