Farm to Table
  • In this unit, students explore concepts of nutrition and creating a well-balanced meal which includes each of the food groups. Additionally, students learn about where food comes from, with an emphasis placed on locally grown farms and products. Technology resources include using "Chatterpics" to create a digital photo story and Google Earth to research local farms. For the final project, students work to create a 3D model of their "plate" which mush include samples from all the food groups and be purchased following a strict budget. This is one of first grade's most delicious units!
