Distance Learning Class Expectations- Sra. Levenson

On Monday, April 6th, Central Bucks will begin with Phase 2 of its Distance Learning Plan (DLP). This will continue until we are told otherwise.  I have created this reference guide for both you and your parents to use and refer to at any point during Phase 2 of the DLP. If you have any questions, feel free to email me: llevenson@cbsd.org.

Before we begin, it is important that you understand a few terms that you are going to hear with Distance Learning.  They are:

    • Synchronous- This is direct instruction/interaction/feedback that happens in real-time with me. Examples are class meetings you attend through Microsoft Teams and office hours where you communicate with me real-time through e-mail. **Be on the lookout for when I invite you to a scheduled Microsoft Teams meeting. This is like being live in a class. Make sure to follow all classroom rules like you normally would.  ALL MICROSOFT TEAMS MEETINGS ARE RECORDED.
    • Asynchronous- This is work that I assign for class that can be done at your own pace. I would recommend using the time allotted in blue on the chart below to get your work done.

So, when does my Spanish class meet?

This chart is the master schedule for all your classes. Find your specific Spanish class period to see when your allotted class time is for the week. The office hours (synchronous) and asynchronous learning are a block of time of 2.5 hrs. The office hours (synchronous) can occur anytime within the block you will be completing Spanish work. Expect a TEAMS invite to join with the time indicated on the invitation. Please accept all invitations when you receive them. Some weeks we may meet in a discussion group or use email to communicate instead of TEAMS. I will communicate this to you prior to 8:00am on Monday in the canvas module and/or email.

     schedule

Here is another way to look at the schedule:

    schedule

Your alloted block of time for class (at least one and a half hours will be self-paced independent learning)

    Period 1: Mondays 9:30-12:00

    Period 2: Mondays 12:00-2:30

    Period 3: Tuesdays 9:30-12:00

    Period 6: Wednesdays 12:00-2:30

    Period 7: Thursdays 9:30-12:00

    Daily Expectations for Students

    ·       Attend our classroom check-in as indicated in the beginning on the week on canvas or by email invitation (teams, email hours, discussion group, etc)

    ·       Check Canvas for our daily/weekly assignments.

    ·       Complete and submit assignments by the due date.

    ·       Abide by CB Online Meeting Guidelines, found here.

How do I find information and assignments for class?

This is very important: I WILL CONTINUE TO USE MY CANVAS PAGE LIKE I HAVE BEEN SINCE WE LEFT SCHOOL. NOTHING CHANGES WITH THIS!!

How will I be graded in this class during our Distance Learning?

You will be graded on a PASS/FAIL format. There will not be letter grades. Everything that is a 70% or higher is considered passing and everything below a 70% is considered failing.

    EXPECTATIONS FOR MICROSOFT TEAMS MEETINGS

    1. Remember that you are using a Central Bucks program on your district laptop to communicate with your classmates as well as your teacher—all school rules apply—please act accordingly.
    2. If you have HEADPHONES, I highly recommend using them.
    3. ALL MICROSOFT TEAMS MEETINGS ARE RECORDED.

If you are not using headphones, please MUTE YOUR MICROPHONE upon entering the chat. Otherwise, we get an echo (echo, echo, echo…). When you would like to speak, simply unmute your mic.
