Obtaining Clearances
Various clearances are required by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the Central Bucks School District before any individual is permitted to begin work as a paid employee or as a volunteer with the students in the Central Bucks School District. The clearances needed depend on your age and whether you are a paid employee or a volunteer.In order to help you determine what forms need to be completed, please refer to the table below. An "x"indicates a required form. Before an employee can begin working for the Central Bucks School District, all paperwork must be complete and on file. Additional Form Notes:
Currently enrolled Central Bucks School District students will not be required to obtain clearances as volunteers as long as they are not responsible for the welfare of any child attending.
 
Form#5 (I-9 with instructions): COACHES: Please check paperwork from your assistants for accuracy and missing items. Before signing Section 2, be certain to check that you have seen the original documents for identification purposes which you can copy and send to us once the form is completed.
 
Form #8 (FBI Fingerprinting): Print the registration form and take it and a current picture ID (e.g. drivers license) when you go for fingerprinting. Submit the unofficial 2-page letter which includes your registration ID that you will receive in the mail with the results (see example here). The fee is $27.
 
Form #9 (PA State Police): Be sure to click the official certificate link and print the version with the state seal in the background (see example here). The fee is $8.
 
Form #10 (Child Abuse History): The fee is $8. (See example here.)
 
Form #13 (CBSD Affidavit): If you have applied for but do not have updated clearances (within five years of issue date of oldest clearance) in your possession, you must sign this form and submit it with copies of your clearance applications while you wait for your new clearances to come from the state.
 
EMPLOYMENT TYPES: 
A. NEW SUMMER PAID EMPLOYEES:
Ages 18 and over: Follow chart above for new employee paperwork requirements. Please note: if you are a new employee for CBSD, no clearances can be older than one year from date of hire. The cost of clearances for new employees is the responsibility of the new hire.
 
Under 18: No clearances required but the Employment Affidavit must be completed and notarized.  Click here for the Employment Affidavit.
 
B. RETURNING SUMMER PAID EMPLOYEES:
If you are 18 years old or older and are returning for a consecutive summer as a paid employee, you need to renew all three background clearances within five years of the original issue date of the oldest clearance: 1) State Police-apply online, $8 fee, 2) Child Abuse Registry-apply online, $8 fee and 3) FBI Fingerprinting-register online, take form to get fingerprinted, $27 fee. The employee, not the school district, will be responsible for the costs associated with renewing clearances.
 
Under 18: No clearances required if currently enrolled as a Central Bucks School District student. If not a currently enrolled CB Student, the Employment Affidavit must be completed and notarized.  Click here for the Employment Affidavit.
 
C. PREVIOUS SUMMER VOLUNTEERS AGE 18 AND OVER, NOW APPLYING FOR A PAID POSITION:
In this situation you are considered a "new employee" and must complete all of the paperwork noted in the chart above.  If the two clearances, 1) State Police and 2) Child Abuse Registry, you had as a volunteer are still within the five-year window of the oldest clearance, then you need to add the 3rd clearance, FBI Fingerprinting.  The cost of the clearances for new employees is the responsibility of the new hire.  Clearances are required to be updated every 60 months from the date of the oldest clearance.  
 
VOLUNTEERS
Please note: The clearances obtained for volunteer status are not acceptable for paid employment.
A. NEW SUMMER VOLUNTEERS (non-paid):
Ages 18 and over: You will need to complete three clearances. 1) State Police-apply online, no fee 2) Child Abuse Registry-apply online, no fee 3) FBI Fingerprinting*-register online,take form to get fingerprinted, $27 fee. The employee, not the school district, will be responsible for the costs associated with renewing clearances.    *NOTE:The 3rd clearance, FBI Fingerprinting, is required only if the volunteer has lived outside the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for any period of time in the last 10 years. If you have NOT lived outside of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for any period of time in the last 10 years you are exempt from fingerprinting but you must swear or affirm in writing that you are not disqualified from service based upon a conviction of an offense under §6344 by completing the Volunteer affidavit, which must be notarized. Click here for the Volunteer Affidavit.  The cost, if any, of all clearances is the  responsibility of the volunteer.
 
Under 18: no clearances required if currently enrolled as a student of the Central Bucks School District
 
B. RETURNING SUMMER VOLUNTEERS (non-paid):
