Central Bucks is located in the heart of Bucks County, with administrative offices in Doylestown, the county seat. The district comprises nine municipalities: the boroughs of Chalfont, Doylestown, and New Britain; and the townships of Buckingham, Doylestown, New Britain, Plumstead, Warrington, and Warwick. Central Bucks has an area of 122 square miles and a population of over 101,000.
The third largest school district in Pennsylvania, Central Bucks has about 18,400 students in 15 elementary schools, five middle schools and three high schools. An award-winning staff development program and careful planning for growth have resulted in a very consistent and stable district, even with such a large enrollment. Based on the official Pennsylvania Value-Added Assessment System, Central Bucks ranks #1 among all Bucks County districts and #15 out of the state's 500 districts. More than 90 percent of our students further their education at two- and four-year colleges, and Central Bucks has a graduation rate of more than 99 percent.
Central Bucks students also score very highly on the four "transition tasks" given at key points throughout their education. In third, sixth, ninth, and twelfth grades, all students are assessed on projects that test mastery of knowledge, time management and written and oral skills. Art, music, technology and physical education classes are provided to all students. Secondary students can choose from nearly fifty clubs or teams to enhance their skills and leadership abilities. Each high school also offers nineteen advanced placement classes.
Approximately 98 percent of Central Bucks special education students are placed in the district. Currently, 11 percent of the student population receive these special education services, and an additional 7 percent receive gifted education services.
In the spring of 2005, Central Bucks received the "Ambassador Award" from the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce. This award is presented to organizations or individuals whose reputations cross county boundaries and attract attention to our community. Central Bucks is proud to be an Ambassador for our community, and proud to welcome you to our community.
