One of my goals as your child’s teacher this year is help to build or maintain a love for reading.  In addition to reading aloud great books, recommending titles, and sharing my love for great stories with the children, I will also be sending home Scholastic Reading Club order forms. Of course, ordering is optional.  One of the things that I like most about Scholastic Reading Club is that the order forms that come home identify the reading levels of the books that they sell.  They also have an online feature that allows you to sort the available books into “on level,” “below level,” and “above level” lists to help you select books that best fit your child.  We have talked in class about the importance of choosing books that are a good fit.  If you choose to order Scholastic Books, there are two ways to order.  You can go online to www.scholastic.com (select “order from flyer” under the “Parents” tab, register, and enter our classroom code:  HYNHP.  You can also do it the “old fashioned way.”  Just complete the order form your child brings home and return it to school with payment (please do not send cash).

I hope that you will consider ordering books from Scholastic since our class earns free books for our classroom library when students place orders.  This is the primary means by which new books are added to our classroom library.
