Reminders for the Week of April 8, 2024 flower

RELA (Reading and Language Arts) - This week we will continue exploring themes concerning events by reading a text to identify elements of drama and read a play called "Grace and Grandma." We will develop language to make connections between reading and writing and use elements of opinions writing to write an opinion essay. We will conduct teacher and peer conferences and revise and edit our essays for finalization and publication.

DEAR (Drop Everything and Read) for 20 minutes.

    Spelling - Homophones

Social Studies - We will begin to answer the essential question in chapter 9: How does global trade affect our community? Students will learn about global trade and its effects on people and communities around the world.   Students identify familiar items that are made or grown in other countries and hypothesize why people might use or buy items from other countries. Next, students will take on the roles of countries around the world to create a trade web. Finally, students learn how global trade is changing, like in a community in India, Bangalore.

Math - This week we will continue solving problems with time. Students will tell time to the nearest minute. Tell time using the terms "past" and "to." Convert minutes to hours and hours to minutes, and solve elapsed time problems.
