Hello! I am so excited for this school year and to be working with such a wonderful group of students! By working together as a team, including students, parents, and teachers, we can make this an amazing school year! I'd like to take a moment to tell you a little bit about myself.
I grew up in the State College, Pennsylvania area, graduating from State College Area High School. During the summer after my junior year of high school I attended The Pennsylvania Governor's School for Education, held at Millersville University. While there I fell in love with the school and attended Millersville as an undergraduate for four years, graduating with a degree in Elementary Education and a minor Early Childhood Education. After completing college, I moved back to the State College Area and began my career in the Bald Eagle Area School District. I taught Reading Recovery for one year and first grade for the next two years. I also worked at the after school tutoring program, and was a member of the Parent-Teacher Organization. After I married my wonderful husband John, I moved to the Central Bucks School District and joined the exciting Mill Creek community, where I am beginning my 22nd year of teaching. I have my Master's degree in Reading from Gwynedd Mercy College and am a certified reading specialist. My husband and I have been blessed to welcome our beautiful daughter Emma into our family! She is entering fifth grade this school year!
Along with my passions for education and family, I enjoy many other interests. I love to sing and have sung in many choirs including Madrigals in high school and The University Choir at Millersville. My husband and I love to travel! This summer our family was able to spend some time in the Dominican Republic and hiking through Yosemite and Sequoia National Parks! I enjoy music, scrap booking, photography, and reading. I also enjoy sports and love to watch the Phillies, Eagles, and Flyers!
I can't wait to get to know everyone better as we work together to make this exciting year a success!
