In addition to our curricular course offerings, motivated students have the opportunity to take part in several after-school co-curricular ensembles.
The Tamanend Jazz Band is Tamanend's competitive jazz group. It is comprised of students who are chosen by audition. Auditions will take place each September. The Jazz Band travels to 4-5 jazz festivals a year. They rehearse on Tuesday evening's from 6:00 - 8:00pm, with a once a month 5:30pm sectional rehearsal prior to our first competition. Audition information will be distributed in the first week of class.The Tamanend Symphonic Swing Ensemble is a larger jazz group which includes non-tradition instruments in the jazz setting. Auditions will also take place in September. Audition music will be the same material used in the Jazz Band auditions and will be made available in the first week of classes. The Swing Ensemble will rehearse regularly on Tuesdays after school from 2:45 - 4:00. They will perform at several concerts and events throughout the school year.The Tamanend Wind Ensemble is our most advanced concert band at Tamanend. It is comprised mainly of 9th and 8th grade concert band members who are chosen by audition. These auditions will take place in mid-November. They will perform at several concerts and events during the school year as well as attend one completion near the end of the school year. The Wind Ensemble will begin their rehearsals in April and will run from 2:45 - 4:00.The Central Bucks Middle School Honors Band was established in 2003. It is comprised of the finest middle school musicians from the district’s five middle schools. The Honors Band Festival will take place in February, this year. Auditions are held in November.
