Baked Apple

„A MICROWAVE RECIPE„

            1 cooking apple

            1 tablespoon brown sugar

            1 teaspoon melted butter, optional

Cinnamon

 

  1. Peel a rim of apple skin from the top and the bottom of the apple to allow steam to escape.

 

  1. Core your apple.

 

  1. Place apple in a custard cup or microwavable safe bowl.

 

  1. Fill cavity in the middle of the apple with brown sugar.

 

  1. Slowly pour melted butter over the brown sugar.

 

  1. Sprinkle cinnamon lightly over the peeled portion of the apple. Microwave 2 minutes on high for 1 apple, or until apple is tender. Add 1 minute per apple for each additional apple.

 

  1. Let stand (Standing Time) for 5 minutes before eating.

 

Pizza Bagel

„A BROILER RECIPE„

4 bagels - one bagel per person

1 cup pizza sauce

Oregano, optional

1/4 pound shredded mozzarella cheese                                   

 

 

1.       Line a cookie sheet with foil.

 

2.       Set oven rack all the way to the top.

 

3.       Turn oven to BROIL.

 

4.       Split bagels in half. 

 

5.       Shred the cheese and into 8 equal piles - one for each bagel half.

 

6.       Place bagels on cookie sheet with the cut side face down.  Toast ONE MINUTE on each side, using the broiler.

 

**WHEN USING THE BROILER,  LEAVE THE OVEN DOOR SLIGHTLY OPEN FOR AIR CIRCULATION.  BE SURE TO HAVE YOUR POT HOLDERS READY TO USE. **

 

7.       Remove bagels from oven.  Set on the counter top.

 

8.       Spread each bagel half with 1 TABLESPOON of pizza sauce.

 

9.       Sprinkle with oregano if desired. Top with shredded cheese.

 

10.    Place under broiler and broil ONE TO TWO MINUTES until cheese melts.

**WATCH CLOSELY.  CHEESE BURNS VERY QUICKLY.**

 

 

 


 

Baby Monkey Bread

„AN OVEN RECIPE„

1 package refrigerated biscuits

1/2 cup sugar

1 teaspoon cinnamon

2 1/2 tablespoons butter

 

1.    Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.

2.    Line 5 muffin cups of a muffin tin with cupcake papers .  

3.    One tube refrigerator (10) biscuits cut each biscuit into 4 pieces.  That will make a total of 40 pieces of dough.

4.    In a small mixing bowl mix together 1 teaspoon cinnamon and 1/2 cup sugar.

5.    Roll each piece of dough in the sugar / cinnamon mixture.

6.    Put 8 pieces of dough into each of the 5 prepared muffin cups.

7.    Put a pat (1/2 tablespoon) of butter on top of each muffin.

8.    Into each of the remaining (empty) muffin cups put 1 tablespoon water in the bottom.

9.    Bake for 8 to 10 minutes.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Quick Quesadillas

„A SKILLET RECIPE„

1 teaspoon vegetable oil

2 6-inch flour tortillas

1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 Tablespoon green onion, chopped

1 Tablespoon black olives, sliced

1 teaspoon Jalapeno peppers, minced (optional)

Picante sauce

 

  1. Coat the bottom of the skillet with oil.
  2. Place a tortilla in the hot skillet.  Sprinkle cheese on the tortilla.  Leave about 1/2 inch between the cheese and the edge of the tortilla.
  3. Arrange onion, olives, and peppers over the cheese.
  4. Cover the cheese with the second tortilla.
  5. Heat on medium heat until the cheese starts to melt.
  6. Turn the quesadilla over and heat again until cheese is melted.
  7. Remove from skillet.
  8. Use a pizza cutter to cut into 6 wedges.

Hard boiled eggs

Mayonnaise

  1. Remove the shells from the hard-boiled eggs.
  2. Cut the eggs in half lengthwise. 
  3. Scoop the yolk into a small bowl. 
  4. Mix the egg yolk with mayonnaise and mustard to taste. 
  5. Fill each egg half with some of the yolk mixture. 
  6. Add two raisins and a small piece of carrot to make the eyes and a beak.

 

Graham Cracker Bars

1 1/2 to 2 pkg. graham crackers

2 sticks butter

1/2 c. sugar

Confectioners' sugar

Pecan pieces

 

  1. Place graham crackers on cookie sheet (break apart into individual pieces). Bring butter and sugar to a boil, turn down on simmer and stir constantly for 3 minutes (will be thick). Spoon or pour over graham crackers, then sprinkle with nuts.
  2. Bake at 300 degrees for 10 minutes or until it bubbles over all the crackers.
  3. Remove quickly from cookie sheet and place on aluminum foil that has been sprayed with a non-stick spray.
  4. Let cool a few minutes and sprinkle with confectioners' sugar.

 

Ice Cream in a Bag

1/2 cup milk

1 tablespoon sugar

3/4 tablespoon vanilla

Ice

6 tablespoons salt

self-sealing plastic freezer bags (1 large and 1 small)

 

  1. Stand the small plastic bag in a coffee mugs.  Have each the child put milk,
  2. sugar,
  3. and vanilla in a plastic bag. 
  4. Seal the bag shut. 
  5. Put ice in the large bag until it is half full. 
  6. Add 6 tablespoons of salt in the large bag with the ice. 
  7. Put the small bag into the large bag. 
  8. Seal the large bag.
  9. Shake the bags for 5 minutes. 
  10. Put the small bags in the freezer for a few minutes until the milk is thick like ice cream.

 

Letter Pancakes

2 cups sifted flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

1/4 cup sugar

1/4 cup melted butter

1 egg

1 cup milk

applesauce

 

  1. Measure and sift flour,
  2. baking powder,
  3. salt,
  4. and sugar into a bowl. 
  5. Add melted butter
  6. Beat until well mixed. 
  7. Beat egg.
  8. Add milk and blend. 
  9. Add egg mixture to other ingredients and blend.
  10. Using a small pitcher, pour the batter into a heated frying pan to make a letter. 
  11. Serve with applesauce

8 ounce package of cream cheese, softened

1 cup grated carrots

1 tablespoon apple juice

1 cup (4 ounces) Monterey Jack or cheddar cheese, grated

 

Decoration materials such as: 

 

celery, cut in sticks (2-3 inches long)

peas, fresh or frozen (thawed)

sliced green or black olives

green, red, or yellow pepper strips;

grated carrot, etc.

 

Diggers such as: 

 

whole wheat crackers

pretzels

pita bread (pocket bread)

 

q      Put cream cheese

q      grated cheese

q      1 cup grated carrots in a mixing bowl. 

q      Add apple juice. 

q      Use a wooden spoon to mix. 

q      Put a spoonful of the spread on a plate. 

q      Use the back of a spoon to shape the cream cheese mixture into a circle. 

q      Use the materials to make the lionÕs mane, whiskers, eyes, nose, etc. 

q      Use the diggers to scoop and eat.


 

Mini Apple Pizzas

1/2 tube refrigerator biscuits  (5 biscuits)

1/4 cup packed brown sugar

1 Tablespoon flour

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1 cooking apple -- peeled, cored, and shredded

 

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

 

  1. Roll or pat biscuits into 3 1/2 inch circles.

 

  1. Place on an aluminum foil-covered baking sheet.

 

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon. 

 

  1. Stir well to mix these ingredients.

 

  1. Add the shredded apples to the ingredients in #3 and mix well.

 

  1. Spoon rounded tablespoonfuls of the apple mixture onto the biscuits.

 

  1. Bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes or until the edges begin to turn brown.  Serve warm and enjoy! ! !

 

 


 

Peanut Butter Nuts and Bolts

1 can cocktail peanuts

1 package Rice Chex cereal

1 package pretzel sticks

1/2 cup peanut butter

1/2 package Cherrios cereal

1/2 cup butter

 

  1. Measure the peanuts,
  2. cereal,
  3. and pretzels in a large mixing bowl. 
  4. In a small pan measure the peanut butter
  5. and butter. 
  6. Heat the mixture on top of the stove. 
  7. Pour the mixture into the bowl with the cereal.
  8. Mix together. 
  9. Pour all the ingredients into a 9Ó x 13Ó pan
  10. Bake for 15 Š 20 minutes at 300 degrees F. 
  11. Cool and serve.

  1. Fill each baby food jar about 1/4 full of whipping cream.
  2. Shake for 10 minutes.
  3. When the butter has formed pour the leftover buttermilk into cups to taste. 
  4. Add salt. 
  5. Spread on crackers.
