Students created and presented handmade cards and notes
to Mrs. Sharon Victor, a retired C.B. art teacher, to help connect with children around the world. Sharon
will be traveling to Cambodia in February and teaching at the Cambodia
Landmine Museum, whose mission is to decrease landmine casualties and
contribute to landmine survivor rehabilitation through social and
educational programs. The Cambodian children will be learning English as a second language, and the notes from Unami
students will give them something to read, and hopefully respond to,
through a pen-pal correspondence. Students in all three grade levels at Unami
contributed to the project through art, photos, and personal notes.
Pictured below is Mrs. Jones' seventh grade art
class holding their cards, and with Sharon Victor. |
