Ceramics: Mayan Effigy Pots (in progress)
Students in ceramics class were introduced to the ancient Mayan civilization through a reading assignment and visual examples of carvings in stone and clay. They then worked with two animals of their choice and an integrated coil pot for their final vessel design. Clever and creative combinations were then built in terra cotta clay and finished in low fire glazes. Although you may no longer recognize the animals they came from, we think they're fun and full of personality...enjoy!
