This is the sixth
year that Unami is involved in the
Kids
Care MANNA project, a
collaboration of MANNA (Metropolitan AIDS Neighborhood Nutrition
Alliance), Kids Corner on WXPN (88.5 FM), and the
Woodmere
Art Museum. Kids Care is an exhibition of artwork created by children for
people living with HIV/AIDS and encourages kids to help those in need
around the holidays. At the close of the exhibition, the artwork is
delivered as holiday gifts, along with MANNA's fabulous holiday
home-cooked meals for their clients.
Thanks to our first marking period 8th
grade B day art classes for their help in making this year's MANNA art
project a success. Their art will be will be delivered as gifts with a
holiday meal this December, to homebound clients. Students made ceramic
tissue box covers, and used this year’s theme of “Impression” in their
textured details. They also made cards with a personal note of good
wishes.
We are proud of Unami's talented art
students and their contributions to this worthwhile cause!
You can stop by
the
Woodmere
Art Museum before mid-December to see all of the artwork from participating schools.
The show will be up until mid-December, at which point the gifts
will be wrapped up and distributed, along with MANNA’s specially prepared
meals, to people living with AIDS. |
