Greek Vessels

Students in Mrs. Jones’ art classes made Greek vessels in  terra cotta clay.  First we looked at ancient examples of Red and Black figure pottery from the Classical Greek period.  We studied the Greek patterns and colors and designed our own clay vessels, inspired by these wonderful works of art.  To get the “Greek figures” for our pottery, we took digital images of Unami teachers and students in their chitons during the ‘Greek Times’ week.  We used clay paints called underglazes to get the black and white coloration and let the red clay show through to get the red color.

We hope you enjoy our fine efforts and authentic looking works of art!
