The Central Bucks Middle School Relay For Life
The Central Bucks community is committed to honoring
and remembering those who have been affected by cancer: those we have
lost, the survivors, and the caregivers whose support and love have
inspired us. Three years ago, when a few teachers and administrators from
each of the five middle schools gathered together, we focused our
commitment to Relay for Life, an American Cancer Society walk-a-thon that
more than three million Americans participate in nationwide; the Relay has
also made its way to more than 25 countries around the world.
Since its first year, well over 1,000 Unami students
have taken part in the Central Bucks Middle School Relay for Life
fundraiser. Beginning each March, interested students form teams of 8-10
and choose their captain. Over the coming months, they will be reaching
out to our community with their goal to raise $50 per student on each
team. They will also sell luminaries to honor those who have battled
cancer. On May 17th, 2008, from 10:00 am-10:00 pm, teams who have raised
their funds will gather at the Tohickon Middle School track where a
ceremony will kick off the day's activities and walking. Cancer survivors
and caregivers lead the charge.
In three years, the Central Bucks Middle School
Relay for Life has raised over $300,000 for the American Cancer Society.
We are humbled by your support and look forward to continued enthusiasm
for this very worthy cause. For more information or find out how you can
