This course is designed for any student planning to utilize
creativity and problem solving skills in the future. Students
will cooperatively work and compete together through
design work in rocketry, CO2 cars, boats, magnetic
levitation, solar inventions, and more. Computers with CADD
(Computer Aided Drawing and Design) software will be
utilized to design projects.
Technical
Design and Graphic Illustration will allow
your child to explore basic drawing techniques, CADD,
product design and development, architectural design,
and more. If your child is interested in fully utilizing her/his
creative abilities to their fullest capacity, this course is for
them. This course does offer computer applications
credit toward graduation.
This ninth grade
elective can be described as a unique
course that enables your child to experience the
world of communication through a hands-on,
practical experience using communication technology
found in industry today. Your child will perform in
activities that include desktop publishing, PowerPoint,
video communications, broadcasting, satellite technology,
PhotoShop, and more. This course will also examine
historical, present, and future trends in communication
technology.
Exploring Technology 7 and 8 is
a course in which
your child meets for 30 periods or 1/2 of a
trimester. During this time, he/she will have
an opportunity to learn and experience a
broad overview of the different facets of
technology. These facets include comm-
unication technology, manufacturing and
construction technology, transportation
technology, and bio-related technology. Most
activities will take place via a computer
simulation on a modular station.
