First grade is creating candlestick holders using a press and pinching technique. Students are learning about creating "functional" pieces of work and adding textures to their artwork. Look for these to come home over the winter break.

January \ February 2011

First grade is learning about Modigliani and portraits. Students are creating portraits inspired by Modigliani's stretched out faces. They are having a lot of fun distorting their portraits.

 March ~ Youth Art Month ~2011~ First grade is currently learning how to create realistic Giant Pandas by tearing paper to create soft edges for fur. Look for the Giant Pandas at the Avenue on March 23rd.

May/June

First grade has completed their Pansy paintings. Ask your child how they created a "magic" painting.

Our next unit will be learning baout Mexican Sun Designs. Students will be creating a Mexican sun tile trivet to take home within the next two weeks!
