Please bring your pencil and sketchbook to art class.

October 2011

Students completed their symmetrical name designs using paint and oil pastels. We added textures using a scratching tool to create additional interest to our colorful designs.

Fourth grade is busy creating original stencils and pastels to compose a leaf design without the element of line, only shape.

November 2010 Fourth grade created ceramic Drape Bowls. Students used Nature as inspiration and imprinted leaves into their bowls.  The art elements of line, color, texture, and shape were the  focus in this lesson. Be sure to stop by the glass showcase outside the cafeteria to view the free form Drape Bowls.

February/March~ 2011

Fourth grade worked on their "black glue" relief still life paintings. Composition, and the use of chiaroscuro are the focus of these paintings. Be sure to check out the bulletin boards in the north wing. Cezanne would be proud.

Looking forward~Fourth grade will be learning and creating their own  Illuminated Letters.

May/June

Illuminated letters are now displayed in the halls. All fourth grade students have completed their ceramic Gargoyles. They look like the real Gargoyles from medieval times.

Students are starting their tessellations in the style of MC Escher.
