Boomerang Award
Boomerang Youth Recognition Award
”What goes around, comes around”

A partnership between CB Cares, Outback Steakhouse in Jamison, and the Bucks County Herald

This youth recognition award was created to recognize students in the Central Bucks School District for living by one of the 40 Assets, designated monthly. The 40 Developmental Assets ( http://cb-cares.org/assetsinaction-schools.cfm ) are positive experiences, behaviors, and personal qualities that all youth need to possess, in order to be responsible, caring, and strong in the face of peer pressures and other life challenges. Each year, over 1,000 elementary, middle, and high school students are nominated and recognized for their assets.

Nominations are accepted at all of the Central Bucks schools in the first weeks of each month of the academic calendar. Each school has a Boomerang Award Coordinator who receives the nominations either through a paper ballot, most often in the main office, or electronically. One student is chosen from each school to represent that school in a district-wide vote and is sent along to a community group of judges. One student at each level (elementary, middle and high school) will be chosen as the Boomerang Award recipient. ALL OF THOSE STUDENTS WHO WERE NOMINATED, THOUGH, WILL RECEIVE SOME FORM OF RECOGNITION, INCLUDING A SMALL GIFT FROM CB CARES.

The final district-wide winners receive a gift certificate from Outback Steakhouse in Jamison, a letter of recognition for themselves and their school, a photo in the Bucks County Herald, their name engraved on a plaque at Outback Steakhouse, and an invitation to an end-of-the-year luncheon where they attend with their parents and meet other Boomerang Award recipients.
Nominations can come from any community member- parents, grandparents, neighbors, teachers, staff at our schools, youth, and the student, him/herself.
