Sophomores of Central Bucks High School East:
Welcome to Central Bucks High School East! This is going to be an exciting time for you as you make the transition from middle to high school. As your House Principal, I plan on working with each and every one of you over the next year to make this transition as smooth as possible to ensure a successful first year.
The best way to have success and get the most out of your high school experience is to get involved as soon as possible. We have over 50 student clubs and organizations, ranging from Phantasmagoria to the Key Club. Our athletic program is one of the best in the state, as we have several teams that made district and state playoffs. The music program, led by band director Mr. Morehouse and choral director Mr. Teschner, is a tight-knit family. If you are an aspiring actor or actress, or like working with stage crew, you must join our ensemble group, the Patriot Players, led by director Ms. Eisenberg and producer Mrs. Fichtman. As you can see, getting involved is not going to be a problem, but you just need to take that first step. For listings of clubs and other resources, go to our sophomore class page, which can be accessed from the school website.
To help you get acclimated to the school, the sophomore class will report to East on Monday, August 29th. On that day, you will report immediately to your homeroom, so be sure to bring your schedule! During the first day, you will have an opportunity to get lockers, meet your guidance counselors and administrators, find out how to join Student Government and attend your classes for the first semester. One of the highlights of the day is our Club Fair, which allows you to sign up for clubs right away! Most importantly, you will meet your new classmates and build friendships that will last you through your high school career.
When you receive this letter, you will realize that summer is almost over, but please know that you are about to embark on an incredible journey. Over the next three years you will create memories that will last you a lifetime. With hard work and perseverance, you will also pave the way for a bright and successful future. Please enjoy the rest of your summer and we look forward to seeing you at East on the 29th!
Sincerely,
Kevin T. Shillingford
House Principal, Class of 2014
