Mr. Jaffe's Web Site

Logging on to the Internet, Liz logs on to a website and double-checks her homework on enotes. She realizes there is a site that would help her a lot with her science. Elizabeth clicks on “subject area resources” and finds that helpful site under the “Science” category. After her homework, Liz has some spare time and decides to listen to WJJL and read the inside scoop on what’s happening with Mill Creek with Jaffe’s Journal. This website has more to offer than meets the eye. It all began with one man (Mr. Jaffe)’s dream. That dream has launched into the great success we know today as Mr. Jaffe’s Website.

The first and most used (by his students) necessity is Enotes. This helpful tool is used to double-check homework assignments and projects or test that need to be signed. Most Enotes are labeled with a date to tell which day it was created. For example, on December 18, 2006 the enote for that night was labeled 12/18/06. There are also additional enotes for events that his class could take part in, such as a podcast contest. There are also study guides for up-coming tests. However, enotes aren’t just to help with schoolwork; there is also a daily trivia and math trivia to earn points that could lead up to a plus or percentage point. Five trivia points earn a plus and five math trivia points put one more percentage point on your average. As you can see, enotes are very helpful to all Mr. Jaffe’s students and is much appreciated. But this is only one of the many wonders that Mr. Jaffe’s website has to offer.

Subject area resources are available to help you with your math, science, and social studies. The math section is for Mr. Jaffe’s pre-algebra students. On it there are many links to help you with every lesson and every chapter. Science has links that Mr. Jaffe and his students have found that relate to what we’re learning. They can be things to help us understand lessons more or they are games that enhance learning and are fun and interesting. There are also websites to help us find an article for a current event for every science unit we have. Social studies has links to get us to our on-line textbook and links to take us to Chapters 1-3. These sites all benefit us in learning what we need to now and understanding it.

Mr. Jaffe’s website also has some remarkable assets (WJJL and Jaffe’s Journal) that are fun and educational to listen to. WJJL is a monthly podcast and reader’s theater that we post on his site. Every student in Mr. J’s class is involved in WJJL if he or she wishes to participate. These podcasts talk about something occurring in our school or a monthly happening. There are also some amusing jokes in between. You can also check out that latest and first video podcast, a reader’s theater from “Maniac Magee”. There are also some updated Jaffe’s Journals that are written by the students in his class. Jaffe’s Journal is a weekly article about the inside scoop on what’s going on with our school, Mill Creek. (This is an example of one)! It could be on a person in our school, a privilege or event in Mr. Jaffe’s class, or something going on in the school for just 6th grade or the whole school. What ever it is Jaffe’s Journal has the story. So as you can see Mr. Jaffe’s Website is for anything from homework help to fun with podcasts and Jaffe’s Journal.

Enotes, subject area resources, podcasting, and Jaffe’s Journal are only a few of the parts of a magnificent success. This clever man (Mr. Jaffe) has worked hard and long to make his dream come to life. And now that it has kids from all over Mill Creek and even around the world using the beneficial assets of Mr. Jaffe’s Website to help them with anything it can. Liz lies back relieved; her homework is done (the websites on subject area resources helped her a lot). She had read some Jaffe’s Journals and found out the latest happenings in her class and was entertained by podcasts for some time. Now she has time to relax and feel good about what the things on Mr. Jaffe’s Website had taught her. And to think, it was all the hard work and labor of Mr. Jaffe that made this all possible.
