6160 Human Development: The Child
This course provides an in-depth
study of child development from birth through age six. It offers
a balanced selection of topics concerning growth and stages of development,
and a foundation of both classic theories of development and current research.
Classroom theory is applied and practiced through a service learning project
at the Children's Village day care center at Doylestown Hospital.
Timely issues such as parenting
in today's society, discipline, the working parent family, and the influence
of the media and technology on the family will be examined. The responsibilities
of parenting, the skills required, and the readiness for parenting will
be studied in depth. Information in the course will be supplemented
by community professionals.
Bucks County Community College
will give college credit to graduates enrolled in the BCCC Child Care Program
who earned an A or B in this course.
Requirements: Blood test
for tuberculosis (hospital requirement).
