Elementary Science Education
Our K-12 science philosophy, principles, program concepts and processes are aligned with the National Science Education Standards (NAS, 1996) and the Pennsylvania Science Education Standards. Our instruction is framed around big ideas, essential questions, and active learning. This site is designed for our parents, who may be looking for resources to encourage a student who is taking an interest in science.

An Overview of the K-6 Science Program in Central Bucks - Just click the link and then the grade level you are interested in, this will take you to an overview of your child's year in science.
Science Companion - The science program that the Central Bucks School district uses is called Science Companion. This standards aligned, inquiry based, award winning program was developed by the University of Chicago. If you would like to learn more about the program, just click on the opening link of this paragraph.
learningscience.org - is a web site full of free, world class resources for any science topic from kindergarten to twelfth graders! Visited by thousands of teachers and students each week. Try some of these interactives and simulations yourself, you'll be surprised how much science you learn. This site was developed here in Central Bucks and is shared worldwide!
Summer Programs - Yahoo maintains a national directory for science summer camps. These can change from year to year, so it is important to research each opportunity well ahead of time. Another summer program for your student, you may want to consider is The Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth program. They feature programs for Grades 2 to 6, and also Grades 7 and 8, and more. You can apply on your own if you find a program that you think your student would enjoy. They also have a nice Frequently Asked Questions section.
Science Daily is a great site that covers recent news in all areas of science.
