2005 Each year West choirs’ major project is to travel to a great city and perform the music of the greatest composers of that city in it’s greatest venues. The choirs traveled to Los Angeles in 2002 and were joined by composer Morten Lauridsen, first at the University of Southern California and then at the magnificent First United Methodist Church in Pasadena. This past spring the choirs traveled to Boston to present Charles Osborne’s Souls on Fire with special guest Leonard Nimoy and then they presented the world premiere of Daniel Pinkham’s Let the Word Go Forth at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library. This spring the choir will travel to Chicago to perform newly commissioned works of Chicago composers at such places as Holy Name Cathedral and Orchestra Hall. These collaborations are indicative of the distinctive and inimitable opportunities available to West choir students.
