National Standards for Phys Ed:
 | Standard 1: Demonstrates competency in motor skills and
movement patterns needed to perform a variety of physical activities |
 | Standard 2: Demonstrates understanding of movement concepts,
principles, strategies, and tactics as they apply to the learning and
performance of physical activities. |
 | Standard 3: Participates regularly in physical activity. |
 | Standard 4: Achieves and maintains a health-enhancing level of
physical fitness. |
 | Standard 5: Exhibits responsible personal and social behavior
that respects self and others in physical activity settings. |
 | Standard 6: Values physical activity for health, enjoyment,
challenge, self-expression, and/or social interaction. |
Dress Code for Phys Ed:
 | Gym type shorts (cotton mesh, etc.) |
 | T-shirt |
 | Sneakers (must be tied) |
 | Sweat shirt/pants |
 | Swim suit (shorts and t-shirts may be worn over swim suit) |
 | Towel |
 | Goggles are suggested (especially for contact users) but not necessary |
 | NOT acceptable: Clothes worn to school, hard-soled shoes or
sneakers, anything not in proper taste (i.e. vulgar, drug or alcohol
related, innuendo, etc.), team uniforms |
Assessment Areas:
 | Participation in Prescribed Fitness Tasks:
 | This area includes knowledge and development in the health related
components of fitness: Flexibility, Cardiovascular, Muscular Strength,
Muscular Endurance and also Agility/Coordination. |
 | Students are required to be active and involved in class making
valuable contributions. Students are evaluated based on both their
quantity and quality of participation. Heart rate monitors may be used
to assess the rate of exertion of students. |
 | All students are to participate in a safe manner. Students will be
warned about safety violations and deduced points on the first
infraction. If a student receives a second infraction, they will be
removed from the activity and receive a "0" for the daily lesson.
Safety violations include but are not limited to: body contact, improper
use of equipment, and off task behavior. |

 | Skill Evaluation:
 | Adequate skill knowledge and demonstration of those skills is
necessary for the safe conduct of all Physical Education classes.
Students will be asked to improve their level of skill and
participation. |

 | Knowledge Evaluation
 | Occasionally homework will be assigned or quizzes given in class.
Team building challenges will also be used to test cooperation, teamwork
and sportsmanship. |
|
 | Preparation for class:
 | Students that do not have the appropriate attire for physical
education will loose all daily points. Unprepared classes cannot be made
up. |
 | 1st unprepared - Parent Notification, "0" for class |
 | 2nd unprepared - Administrative detention, 2nd parent notification,
"0" for class |
 | 3rd unprepared- Failure of the course, student placed in study hall |
