The purpose of the society is to recognize high achievement of high school students in the Spanish language and to promote the continuing interest in Hispanic studies.

World languages students who meet the standards determined by the World Languages Department have the opportunity to apply for membership in our school's chapter of the various Societies.

In order to be considered for membership you must complete an application form and return it to Señora Poblano  in room 108.

To qualify for membership students must meet the following requirements:

  • A grade of A- is required in all standard Spanish courses

  • A grade of B+ is required in the Honors program and AP Spanish

Spanish Honor Society members are expected to:

  • Continue in the study of the Spanish language

  • Participate in society activities such as peer-tutoring

The faculty sponsor, in accordance with the standards set by both East and West World Languages Department members, makes the final decision for acceptance for membership.

La Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica is sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese.
