HAPPENINGS IN WORLD LANGUAGES

 

The Diego Rivera Traveling Museum Exhibit was displayed at Tohickon Middle School during September and at CB East High School during November. 

Hispanic Heritage Month was celebrated from September 15, 2006 until October 15, 2006. 

National German Week was celebrated from October 1-8, 2006.

National French Week celebration was from November 2-8, 2006.  The American Association of Teachers of French identified a major theme for each day of National French Week.  These themes included: Cuisine, Science, Technology, and Careers, the Arts, Community Events, Sports, Games, and Traditions, and also Music and Dance.

Lenape German and French students enjoyed a concert in November performed by singer Uwe Kind.

Central Bucks South High School will host the annual Bucks County Oral Proficiency Contest on  February 27, 2007.  For more information contact: Maria Sordi at CB South High School.

National Foreign Language Week will be celebrated March 5-11, 2007. The theme is: Languages - The Key to Common Understanding.  National Foreign Language Week was inaugurated in the Spring of 1957 by Alpha Mu Gamma.

Each high school has local chapters of the National Language Honor Societies. Students are invited to join the local chapters based on academic achievement.  The induction ceremonies are in the spring.
